Evaluation of vermicompost on development and yield of beetroot (Beta vulgaris)

A greenhouse experiment was conducted at Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources for 10 weeks (19 March – 28 May 2019) under irrigated conditions. The objective the to evaluate effect vermicompost on growth yield beetroot (Beta vulgaris) (i) four doses vermicompost, (ii) three mineral fertilizer, (iii) ordinary soil (as control). randomized complete design had polyethylene pots with 8 treatments, namely 4 (5, 10, 20 30 tonne/ha) 3 (50, 100 200% 50 kg bag/ha) NPK (2:3:2) control), replicates. Data parameters were analyzed using Statistical Analysis Software computer package (SAS version 9.3). variance means separated Duncan’s multiple range test 5% confidence level. results this study showed that tonne/ha treatment gave great potential increase performance, plant improvement quality. higher significant than [2:3:2] fertilizer soil. minimum quantity 5 is, therefore, recommended as a natural root crops, vegetable crops other increased sustainable agricultural systems.
